Are you using Google Voice? The reason why I ask is because I've never heard of this being asked or announced.

Dollars to donuts bet something was reset and this is what's causing it. I have the stock ROM that's fully rooted and as soon as you said it announces to you that you have a voicemail, I almost immediately suspected Google Voice.

I'm thinking you may want to go looking for Google voice as the culprit.

And to think I just activated Google Voice. Goodness, time to play more.
