I have all my pictures in a "My Pictures" folder in the /ROOT of my SD Card. Create folders behind this "My Pictures" folder. Only problem is that you will have to unmount and mount the SD card to reflect the changes. The best method for this is to either restart the phone or just connect the phone to your PC in Disk Drive mode and then disconnect it.
Your gallery should refresh and then you should be good to go... |

My biggest gripe is that I cannot find a way to refresh the Gallery application wthout unmounting and mounting the SD card.

Don't forget that by default the EVO does not come with a file explorer built in therefore it assumes that changes to the SD Card will be made when plugging in the device to a computer as a USB drive. Hence the reason why every time we unplug the device when it is connected as a USB drive, it says "Preparing SD Card" in the message bar which means it is refreshing.

get astro file manager and use it as your picture viewer. it does a great job and it brings standard folder management to your phone aswell
