Well, it is an I/O device. Im not worried though, its obviously a widespread problem so im sure Sprint/HTC will help us out.

Re: Screen May Be Coming Off

version 2 and screen is up a tiny fraction and light leakage from the home and search buttons :-\ not happy about it but even if there is no fix it's still the most amazing phone I've ever used (not owned)

Re: Screen May Be Coming Off

I'm wondering just how many phones HTC releases that has such widespread issues that Sprint covers, till Sprint tells HTC to go eff themselves. HTC is horrid on warranties and support. When I had my TP they told me to go eff myself then I got lucky with sprint replacing the entire phone for the dying keyboard issue.

Moguel -> slow, buggy, crap battery
TP -> slow, buggy, keyboard died on all 6 TP's I had, and crap battery even with mods
EVO4g -> So far perfect except for what seems to be this screen issue oh and crap battery haha.

Re: Screen May Be Coming Off

alot of people say it might be easy to glue back on, but I've done with HTC phones before, and It would leave a mark in the middle of the screen if it is removed. looks like it is water damaged [ remember i said looks like water damage, not actually water damage ] after you fully take the screen off and put it back on. I'm taking mine back if it starts to leak light, i'm not paying a premium for some shit tht can't stay together. but luckily, its fine for now.

Re: Screen May Be Coming Off

Well, the HTC Hero suffers from the foil lifting and coming off of the buttons and the panel. I guess it's only right that the HTC Evo has the capacitive button panel lifting.

The Hero foil lift problem is called cosmetic and nothing done about. So I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for HTC/Sprint to fix this problem.

Re: Screen May Be Coming Off

Count me in amongst the EVOwned. Lifting up left bottom corner of screen and leaking light.

I got mine from Radio Shack on launch day, and it has been well cared for - no drops/shocks/water/abuse (not even a single nick in the plastic).

Sprint store says about what you'd expect them to say - "That sucks, sorry. There are 56 people on the waiting list ahead of you." Radio Shack says they would be happy to swap it out, if and when they get any more in.

Thankfully, there's the 30 day thing, and as a brand new customer there's not much of a loss for me other than my time.

Hopefully I'll be able to secure one of the small percentage of devices that seem to be okay before my 30 days is up. Or maybe HTC and/or Sprint will step up and provide some solid encouragement on this, though I'm not holding my breath. If not, I'll wait a few months for HTC to quietly fix the issue (as they tend to do) and try it again.

Still, it's incredibly disappointing. I really like this phone. It has so much potential for awesomeness. It looks nice, it runs very well, and I can deal with it's other little quirks... but an unsealed/loose glass is a deal-breaker to just about anyone with a clue.

Edit: Hardware version 0002

EVOwned, I like that, clever. So you actually went to a Sprint store and they told you that? Come on Sprint.
