Is there a way to connect the EVo to an Ad Hoc Connection?

I was at the sprint store wanting to check out the EVO. I had my HTC TP2 with me. I have the HTC WiFi Router program on my TP2 which basicly turns it into a router. When I turned on WiFi on the EVO and searched for available networks my network would not show up. However when I search for it with my netbook it picks it right up and I can connect to it. I think it has something to do with the ad hoc connection.

Is there a setting within android to allow the phones to connect to ad hoc connections? Any help would be great.

Re: Is there a way to connect the EVo to an Ad Hoc Connection?

I did some more research and I found that android does not support ad hoc connections out of the box. I guess there are work arounds, you have to root the phones and do some programming to make it work.

In my situation the EVO I was playing with was not activated so I wanted to connect it to my TP2 so I could get on line and check out the browser and some of the other widgets and programs that required internet access.

Kind of wierd that this simple feature is not available. Hopefully in future builds it will be offered.
