Sending more than 1000 bytes in text?

Is there any mod, or reg fix to be able to send more than 1000 bytes in a text? I miss that feature from wm. I could't find anything anywhere else. only questions about sending to 40+ contacts or hour limit. Thanks in advanced. Hopefully with out the use of an app like Handcent SMS.

Kind of my thought. I turn off all the notifications etc from the stock one and just let Hancent handle all that stuff.
