Not sure it's really HTC's fault. They're depending on headphone cords of severely varying length, shielding, and quality. I can't imagine anyone else would be able to perfect it either.

Re: Another day, another issue. (FM Radio not working)
Best bet is to call HTC, they have a 800 # you can call....I plan on buying HTC OEM branded headphones for the Evo. It would have been nice for HTC to use some sort of antenna inside the phone, but I guess it's a added feature that phones normally don't come with. I guess maybe starting a threat on what headphones work, and which don't would probably be a good idea, that way people know what to buy. I also will probably use Pandora and such just for the simple fact there are no annoying DJ's talking my ear off...and its higher quality too...

Re: Another day, another issue.
I still use that Walkman whats wrong with it?
Its not the hardware it the headphones. I tried a pair from home got nothing. Came to work tried a patch cable just has a 1/8" plug on each end what a surprise. First I get every station in the galaxy. Secondly I can play music with the built in speaker. In other words don't need headphones. It also appears to have partial RDS I say partial because it wont scroll the title.

Well considering my 10$ Sansa clip with the same headphones I've tried on my Evo gets better reception, I think it perfectly fits the description.

Re: Another day, another issue. (FM Radio not working)
does your sansa clip have:
1. a wifi antenna 2. a b/g antenna 3. a 4G antenna 4. a 3G antenna 5. a 1Xrtt antenna folks remember, radio is Radio Frequency modulated. RF is super vulnerable to transmission noise, and all those antennas inside this tiny hot box (CPU + battery) would kill any FM radio even if you were LOS (line Of Sight) to the radio X-mitter!!!! FM radio waves are varying in length for each station and you need a conductor (in this case the earphones' wiring) to be able to absorb or "tune in" said freqs per each station, hence why you need to use your ear buds to receive! FM is ANALOG not digital. there is digital conversion technology inside the evo to get analog FM to be heard thru the phone.. on cars, you see the metal rod on the car for the radio, now its a wire thats inside the cars glass... thats how you get FM radio.. you cant get it from a tiny antenna inside a box (evo) that has 5 other DIGITAL antennas in it... so no its not a failure on HTC's part. they should be APPLAUDED for all the technology they have stuffed inside this box (evo) that many of us are taking for granted. they did not have to keep the FM feature in but they did. the EVO is a cutting edge gadget. lets not try to tear it down every chance we get but embrace the technology and enjoy it. the next handset will improve on many things so .. remember the star tac? |
