nevermind...just got it working. tried a 3rd cable and it worked.
odd..but oh well lol. thanks for the help everyone

I don't think it's your cable, it just takes the phone/Android a while to prep the SD card. I think is has to dismount and if another app is using it, there is a delay until it gains control/permissions..
You can scroll down the notification and choose the usb sync option and it shows you the selection screen to choose disk drive. I had to deal with this a few times until it "caught" up and just worked, using the same cable the phone came with. -CC
