Voice Dialing From Magnifying Glass SoftKey

When I first got the EVO, I am 99.99% sure that after loading contacts on the phone, I pushed and held the bottom right magnifying glass button activating the voice search feature and said "Call XXXXX at mobile" and it immediately opened the dialer and had a countdown until it dialed. I hard reset the phone due to a small glitch with notifications and it seems like now the voice search only displays results in Google Search (online). Am I missing something? I know there is a dedicated Voice Dialer app in the applications menu but that's not the one to which I am referring. Anyone else see anything like this?

EDIT: Okay I have figured it out. Voice dialing when tapping and holding the magnifying glass (brings up the Google Search Microphone) will ONLY dial your contacts if they are in your GMail account. I had all of my contacts in my phone and after I exported them into a .vcard file I logged into GMail, imported them, and within a few minutes I was able to dial any of my contacts fro the magnifying glass.

TIP: Be sure to check off "Phone" in the "View" setting from within your contact list on your phone or you might see some doubles pop up!

It seemed to work fine for me. It brought up info for like matches and once I selected the correct option it called them right away

just tried it and had no probs with it. it does come up with a "google search" box, but just say "call jimmyjoebob" and a "dial/cancel" box pops up. thanks for pointing out this feature. didn't know about it and now I can get rid of the voice dial widget.

never mind, can't get rid of the widget. the search button doesn't open apps, just voice dialing and google web search. seems accurate though.

time to edit that edit. just tried it with a contact that I had hand loaded and it worked no prob.
