The Root does nothing but allow for "superuser access" the last free version of wifi-tether would only do an Ad-Hoc connection which is fine for most people.

but, those with Wii, PSP, PS3, and others that need a true AP mode (infrastructure), this was your solution.

My understanding there will never be this function on an un-rooted phone unless you pay for the Sprint WiFi hotspot, at 30 bux a month. They locked the feature out in the core somehow, unless you are rooted.

Does the infrastructure mode work better than ad hoc? I mean is it faster...I understand the need for psp users and stuff...but if I had the previous version installed do I need to uninstall b4 installing these .apk...and is there any speed increase

I just installed unrevoked & wifi teather last night & it rocks! The wifi teather is faster than PdaNet & the sprint hotspot. YouTube & other video sites were very choppy on both the PdaNet & sprint hotspot, but with wifi teather they run way smoother.

Don't forget that this really helps us Archos 5 users! BT DUN on the Archos SUCKS and it only recognizes infrastructure WIFI. This helps me a ton. PEACE OUT

Just want to thank you again. Now can someone tell me how to get this on my sdk card so I can run it. I have OMJ's latest ROM and my phone has been rooted. I didnt see any instructions on how to add programs to your phone. I have d/l the file and that is where I am.

Omg this was too easy. Just copy to your phone, use android mate, find and install and viola. DONE.

According to the issues log on the source page of Android Wifi Tether - there was an issue with the $ character in the password for 2.0.5-pre1

That may or may not have been fixed - but I do know you can install over an older version
