Re: Increase call quality!
airave forwarding to voicemail is not an evrc-b issue, it happens. only changes quality of call while in a call, not before or after the call...
|
Re: Increase call quality!
I honestly cant tell if there is a difference. I had to enable EVRC-B in ##3283#. Both options are set to EVRC-B, and I have no issues receiving calls or making them. I also noticed I get a little bit better signal at home.

Ask for EVO tech support tier 2. Getting pissed at them will not get you any results but a flat out NO. |
Re: Increase call quality!
Just an FYI, none of the methods listed here or in any of the threads worked for me to get my MSL code. Every one was a FAIL for me. Finally, just called Sprint and told them I had gone to a store but they couldn't look up my MSL because I was getting Error Code 2010 and the woman promptly gave me my code.

Re: Increase call quality!
called sprint *2, more options, 0 for any other questions, asked the rep for my msl, she asked which line then she gave me the msl, easy as that, i thikn people are just scared to call sprint. anyways, i just made the change, so ill update later if i notice any change. oh and its not mentioned in the first post that you also have to enable evrc-b, not just change the home and roam setting to it.

Re: Increase call quality!

I just wanted to chime in and say that I duplicated this problem with my airave (had it about a year). I disabled the EBRC-B and set everything (home, roam, and enable/disable) back to stock and my phone started working properly. In fact, the voice mail app popped up with a few vmails that hadn't shown up. Don't know if it was a separate issue or not. Quote:

Re: Increase call quality!
So after reading 10 pages, just a handful of people actually reported results on topic, and the rest of the country reported on their conversation with a CSR about their MSL.
Would anyone have any valuable info on this settings change? Thread has been dead for a while, but maybe it is still a worthwhile change to make? |

Re: Increase call quality!
I made both changes to the Home and Roaming and also made the change in the ##DATA# and everything seems to be working properly for me. I am not certain if I hear much of a difference in the call quality, but no issues with making or taking calls.

What has worked for me and two friends... Call sprint. Tell them the GPS is not working.. you googled and heard ##GPSCLRX# fixes it. They will give you the MSL. Worked 3 out of 3 times. |

Why aren't people just using the free MSL Reader app in the Android Market? It's cake guys.

Re: Increase call quality!
Can anyone confirm this works with Airave as well?
Sorry if I missed it. |

Re: Increase call quality!

Re: Increase call quality!
Wow... so after reading all 11 pages No one really knows what is going on with this. I would love to see more ppl posting what it did to their phone vs. asking how to get their MSL.
For those of you who did do this to their phone I estimating a 50-50% of working and increasing their call quality (both in low coverage area and not so low). Can anyone else confirm this or should we ask the mods to lock this thread and consider it dead? Also, can the OP, or anyone else put down a step by step and what each setting may or may not do for thier phone? |
Re: Increase call quality!
Ok so doing my own research on this here is the numbers that I come up with. Please keep in mind that I am inside a office building and can't get real good reception. All D/L and U/L numbers are an average of 3 tests and measured in kBs.

As you can see... for my location (inside a building) the signal stayed about the same through out the tests (meaning that changing the setting does nothing for signal strength). The data d/l and u/l rate only changed slightly from setting to setting, which means that doing this (at least for me) was not worth the trouble. However, it might differ from person to person and location to location. This type of post is what would be helpful to people looking... not "how can I get my MSL from Sprint"... those belong in a different thread. |

Re: Increase call quality!
Has anyone else had anymore luck with this? Any more concrete info. as to whether or not this is actually doing anything positive or negative for them?
The only thing I can confirm is that changing to EVRC-B does work with the airave access point. |

Re: Increase call quality!
I did recently do this on my Evo runnin MikGs Sense 2.1/3.0 rom ver. 2.20. I enabled EVRCB,then switched my home setting to EVRCB. I cant tell much of an in-call voice quality increase, bcuz it was damn good before. However i can tell a big difference in the in-call voice volume. Before,on EVRC,i had the call volume almost all the way up. After switching to EVRCB the in-call volume sounds noticeably louder. So much that i now only hav the volume set about one quarter of the way up. Everythin else seems the same, but ive only been using EVRCB for about a week so far. Ill leave it on,unless i notice.any negative effects, but so far call quality is great, but it seemed.great before too, just not as loud. I dont even know if my city is EVRCB enabled? But it doe make the incall volume louder at much lower settings. For wat thats worth. I havnt had any droppd calls, static, nothin bad yet.Ill pos t if do. I hav a rootd device & i used the msl reader app,or watevr its called, from the android marketplace to get my msl for my evo.
