I just changed my Home and Roaming origin. I went into ##DATA#, then view mode, Advanced, and under EVRC-B it says Disable. Home and Roam Orig are set to EVRC-B though. So is it working, even if the EVRC-B setting says Disable?

Please keep in mind this is not a hack. EVRC-b is an advancement of EVRC. This is an option that is in the phone itself. Therfore you are just selecting to use it. I have noticed that my call quality is clearer. I didn't think it would make much of a differenct but I don't get the occasional garble like I did before I changed it. As for the effect on battery life...no change. It seems to only change the bandwith so that the transmission is a bit faster. I'm using it from now on untill I notice a problem...so far so good!

Any luck getting MSL from Chat?

Has anybody had any luck getting the MSL number out of a chat session from your account page?

You get a transcipt emailed to you at the conclusion. Good way to save the number, and save the conversation if any promises, etc.

Thanks!!

I got my MSL by asking a rep "Would you mind giving me my MSL, please?" That's it. haha

I found this over at XDA. It really does work to increase call quality! If you need to get your MSL # just call sprint and tell them that you need to change from EVRC to EVRC-b. They will give you the MSL, no problem.

  1. Go to Phone and Dial ##8626337#
  2. Choose Edit Mode
  3. Enter MSL
  4. Change Home Orig., and Roam Orig. to EVRC-B
  5. Hit Menu and Commit Changes

This is definitely not a placebo effect. Try it and see for yourself!

Read through the thread up until now I haven't seen anyone ask about the "EVRC-B" disable/enable..

What, if any change you guys make there?

Me to. I dialed in from a regular landline and hit the option for phone support. Spoke to the women nicely, made her laugh, then just said, can I just get my MSL code. She said sure, here you go.....

For those of you that are having a hard time getting your MSL from sprint, here is a link to a thread over at XDA that may help you out. I have not tried it but it seems like a lot of people are having success with this method through the phone.

God, change the name of this thread to "How to get your MSL/Everyone got it from a CS agent at Sprint so i'll post that I did too..."

For those who have enabled EVRC-B, have you noticed any dropped calls going from one tower to another? Anyone had issues with roaming? I saw one person said that their battery life wasn't affected, how's everyone else's battery doing? Let us know!

Re: Increase call quality!

I have a feeling that EVRC-B is not actually enabled unless you change the additional EVRC-B setting in ##3282# Advanced settings. I have an Airave at home which I have read does not support EVRC-B. When I changed the Home and Roam settings to EVRC-B as per the original thread, calls continued to work on the Airave (there is a tone at the beginning of the call that indicates that you are connected to the Airave. When I then set EVRC-B to enabled in ##3282#, the phone was no longer able to make a call while in the vicinity of the airave. Several attempts to place a call failed. As soon as I disabled that option calls began to work again.

I enabled it in ##3282# and I also cannot make a call... I don't have an Airave...
When I went to place a call I got a busy type tone and the phone said

That's the same thing I got. Maybe we're both near towers that don't support EVRC-B?

Possibly. I don't know. I'm not gonna use it obviously since I want my phone to work.

I am actually getting static, and some people complain that they suddenly can't hear me. I am also getting random echoing of my own voice. Seems sporadic and unstable, especially moving around.

EDIT: Gonna set mine to Voice 13k, supposedly better call quality, but EVRC handles low signal areas better.

If there were really a benefit to using EVRC-B without a downside wouldn't it already be enabled?

would it make a diff if i set roaming to something diff than the home setting? like leaving it in the voice 13k setting?

i know signal is low in my room where i charge the phone, it didnt ring this morning so i was thinking about changing it back at least the roaming part of it.

i just want to increase the sound of the earpiece on call

Re: Increase call quality!

Wow getting the msl is always been as easy as just calling and asking for it polity like YOU know why you need it. They might not know what its for but if you ask straight out for your MSL code like its an everyday thing and you'll get it just be polite. I have never once in my 14 years with this company ever been told no.

I'm trying this hack now see how it works out. So airrave def doesnt work with this?

Does this affect 4g at all?

I wouldnt adjust the roaming unless your roaming allot. Im going with just the home. Right now it seems to have made my calls crisper and much better signal. Ill test further thru the day and in different areas.,

I also noticed no difference in call quality but my call quality was descent before. It's definitly a placebo effect. The only phone I can say has the best call quality (that I have owned) was the Pre but I am happy with my EVO.

Re: Increase call quality!

Good thought, but that theory has proven to not be true with many of the phone manufacturers.

If that was the case, you would not have so may ROM Cooks tweaking stock settings for better performance or battery life. These are things the phone Mfg's seem to intentionally overlook, or overlook because they are clueless!

I used the sprint chat function from my account page and the rep gave me my MSL, I simply told him I wanted to change to evrc-b and they didn't seem to put up any fight once he realized he couldn't make the change himself.

Crap! i call sprint and they gav me hard time. He doesn't know what is EVRC so I ask for the MSL number and he said he will need to reprogram my phone or I need to take it to sprint store.....I was like "HELL NO.....BYE"

I enabled it in ##3282# and I was able to make a call I also have an Airave. but the issue that i have been coming across si people have said that when they call me it goes straight to voice mail. i called my phone from the home phone and it did it 4 times in a row. any1 ran into this issue?

Re: Increase call quality!

Does this work? I see more people asking about msl's then anyone noticing a change in call quality.
