Re: evo randomly rebooting

Ok, backed up and figured out how to remove the unrevoked root, tested via wifi tethering it tells me I need to be rooted now. Before I scrap everything and start from scratch, I will wait a bit with root access gone and see if that helps. I figure if I can go the rest of the day without a random reboot, then that must have been the problem, for me at least. I will let you know in a long while, hopefully.

I also decided to turn my GPS back on, I usually leave it off when I'm not using it. I used "Where" to find the best gas prices in my area and then used google navigation to tell me how to get there. Then I turned GPS off like I normally would.

I will let you know. Thanks.

Re: evo randomly rebooting

Ok, it's been 3 hours since I removed the unrevoked root and I have not rebooted once. Yesterday, I was rebooting about every 45 minutes to hour. So far so good, will let you know if it reboots on me.

Re: evo randomly rebooting

I thought I would chime in here. I'm running a stock EVO as well as my fiancee. Yesterday we both started getting random reboots. She was having battery issues so I was searching for ways to improve her battery life and one of the things I came across was un-checking "Enable always-on mobile data connection" under Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks (drop-down). It appears as though this was causing our random reboots. I changed both back last night (checked the box again) and no random reboots so far for either of us today. You guys might check this setting and see if it's un-checked.

Thanks, I do have that unchecked but it has been that way pretty much since the second day I owned this phone and the reboots started yesterday. I am still have not rebooted since removing the root from my phone. It is possible that different things trigger this on different phones. Mine the root, you the mobile networks, someone else the task killers.

I am going to root my phone again but with the toast method when I get a chance. So far so good though

Welcome to Android boys! Hopefully Froyo, whenever it is officially released will help out on all fronts.

Re: evo randomly rebooting

Well I went 7 hours yesterday without a reboot and then my phone froze up and rebooted. So I enabled mobile networks again and it has now been about 12 hours since a reboot. As far as the welcome to android comment goes I never had this problem with my hero or my wifes moment so I am not sure its a generic android problem. Well if all else fails I will hard reset today and carefully 1 by 1 reinstall all my apps.
