Re: A task killer is not needed for the Evo.

I use a Startup monitor to stop about 20 of the 50+ apps from launching from start up. Its works good for me. I have doubled battery life by doing that, and not keeping WiFi and or 4g on at all times.

Long story short, if something shows up in the list that you aren't using, check your widgets. It makes perfect sense after reading the OP.
How do you remove unwanted widgets?

Do you mean delete them completely from the phone or just remove them off of your screens?

If you mean the screens, press and hold on the widget you want to remove, once you hold long enough, it will allow you to move the widget on the screen, just drag it to the bottom and put it in the remove button. Voila!!! Gone. You can do this with any program or widget.

If it isnt in the applications section under manage applications, then I wouldnt remove it. Curious, why would you want to remove a widget if you just arent using it. It isnt hurting anything sitting dormant.

Friend Stream is built into the image. It can't be removed.

FYI.

Re: A task killer is not needed for the Evo.

is anyone able to tell me why i keep getting the download symbol in the top left corner? Ive tried taking the battery out and holding the power button then turning everything back on but im not able to lose it. I want to keep thinking its a program but i didnt have the problem until last night when i downloaded an app from marketplace. Thanks in advance.
