any way to limit number of messages on gmail

I tried searching but could not find this info. I am wondering if, like with my yahoo mail account, there is a way to limit gmail to just one day's worth of messages rather than my entire account's worth (place I work uses gmail)?n I looked in settings but did not see any way to limit the messages I view to just one day. Thank you.
