Text message pop-up

When I receive a new text and the phone is locked, part of the message is on the screen to be read by anyone near the phone. How do I disable that so you have to go into the inbox to look it up?

been a windows mobile user for years ...finally jumped ship to android ..not that im complaining..not trying to jack your thread figured I should ask this question since it is related to texting..how do you disable t9 predictive text on the htc keyboard..cant find the setting to remove ..it was a button on the keyboard itself on the tp2..now it just says it but I cant find the setting to remove it..never been a fan of it..

Just go into settings under messages and turn it off...

That disables the audible notifcation as well on my phone & the led ..... my gurl has an android phone and its possible to disable the message along with the icon and still have sound for receved text. There are sms apps where u can control this better

You turn it off there and it disables the alert sound and the message notification in the taskbar. I don't want to disable all of that.

Download Handcent sms. It has a privacy feature where it only shows the notification and not any of the actual text in the message until you go open it up.
