Not sure I understand your question.

If you rooted your phone, you should install a rooted rom.
Having a rooted phone w/ an unrooted rom causes issues.

The screen w/ the phone and the /!\ is not "technically" the recovery screen yet. You still need to run the .bat file on the pc to get to the recovery screen.

And yes, for now, the .bat file is the only way to get there and it is required each time you want to flash.
Eventually, the developers will come up w/ a sticky recovery. Which means you'll be able to get all the way to the recovery screen just by using a button combination on the phone.

OK, all your prayers have been answered...
There is now a way to do the recovery from the phone w/o the pc.
I'm uploading a video to youtube, but it couldn't be easier.

This only works for rooted phones that DID NOT use unrevoked.

Go to the Market and download "Rom Manager" by ClockworkMod
There is a free one and a donation one.
Install it.
Select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery"
Confirm your phone is an HTC EVO
After it installs, select "Reboot info Recovery" say "Ok"
Power off the phone by holding down the "Power" button
Hold "Volume DOWN" and press "Power" to boot into bootloader mode
Wait for a few seconds while it searches for you PC36IMG.zip file (which you shouldn't have)
Then use "Volume DOWN" to highlight "Recovery" and "Power" button to select it
The phone will reboot into full recovery!!!

I followed all of these steps but whenever I click on "Recovery"
it just goes to the screen with /!\ and stays there... any ideas?

Re: EVO - Root|Recovery|Nand Backup|Flashing for n00b's Instructions & Videos

I know this is such a noob question but do I extract the file from the PC36IMG.zip fold first or just leave it compress and drag to the root of my sd card?

Dont apologize, the Evo has created a TON of Droid N00bs Yours truly being one
Do NOT extract any files, just drop the whole shebang on the root of your SD card and follow Fast's great instructions.

I must say, I am impressed. The OP has written a great post, similar to what I was planning on doing a while back. Props to him!

Re: EVO - Root|Recovery|Nand Backup|Flashing for n00b's Instructions & Videos

Ok guys...I read through, and I am totally new to Android.

So my question is, if I use your method to root and load OMJ's ROM, and if I ever wanted to go back to stock, can I "un-root" and load Sprint's stock ROM?

Thanks in advance!
