buttons not illuminated?

Wait a minute. I only have this problem while the phone is charging. If I unplug it, turn the screen off and back on and unlock it they work. Wonder if this is how its supposed to be or if my EVO is messed up.

Yeah, that's what I was gonna post. Mine does the same thing.
