my main reason for rooting was for tethering, but since i use pdanet free, i have no need for it as of now. besides, i'd rather we into the rooting matures

I am going to drive into a 4g area just to test this rumor that it breaks 4g.. pshh rumors.. be back soon to report.

haha just realized what this said... was using the speech to text for this post.

so no nand access for the unrevoked method huh? thats coo... i can wait a while for a rooted froyo.

pretty sure you cant with the unrevoked method. it doesnt have nand access.

There isn't anyone in a 4G area that can confirm or deny the root breaking 4G? Really??

No, it does not break 4G, that is complete BS.

I just got 4206kbps down and 1030kbps up on 4G post-root.

EDIT - here, check my speeds:


the bottom 2 are 3G, the top, including my referenced 4206 are above...

that is some fast 3g you have. I tested over my wifi @ home with 25/25 connection and get 6997/2333, so the phone is only able to handle so much ;/ .

sorry, only the last one on there is 3G. I've never topped 1K up on 3G.

I live pretty close to a signal tower, so yeah - at home I am very very happy with the speed. At work it kinda sucks. Really puts a damper on my show off abilities.

So, for unrevoked, if i run this .apk it roots the phone for me.... and when i reboot i dont have to do anything else if i just want root access for wifi tether in the future? (since its not working atm)
