Anyone not on ED and activating and EVO?

I currently have a custom plan that I got from account services. Its 700 family shared minuts for 69.99, unlimited text for 7.50 and unlimited data for 5.00 plus I am getting a 25% discount. I was planning to purchase this phone outright for 450 from sprint but.. The sales rep said no way I could activate unless I change my plan to an ED plan.

I have heard this before blah blah you need to have an ED plan to have a smart phone. I usually just purchase the phone outright and then call sprint and activate the phone with no issues of my plan not being an ED plan. This time seems like it might be a bigger ordeal, is that so?

Upgrading to a $129 ED plan as apposed to current plan lol. Thats $46 diffrence with the 10 evo charge making it another $600 a year. Screw that.

So whats up anyone without an ED plan upgrade without any issues? I have unlimited data for $5 but its not considered unlimited I guess because its not an ED plan. Screw sprint they just keep making us do things latly. Ill keep my tp2 for life if needed to keep this plan lol. Heck in 2 years they wont have any trades maybe then ill get an Evo for free lol.

This is old news but you can't use any smartphone besides Winmo on non-everything plans.

Been discussed many times before. It won't happen.

Well I bit the bullet and got the phone. Wont happen.. sounds rather extream. I am gonna try anyway now. They seem to be fine with letting me buy it after telling them I was using it for my current plan. Not going to let anyone know my plan of attact until its activated after that Ill give you guys the scoop. If I fail lol guess ebay will have one more Evo.

So did you go online to your sprint account and try to activate it yet?

It won't happen. period, if you try to activate online, the website will inform you that you need to call customer service who in turn will tell you you need to change your plan.

My post wasn't meant to be extreme but rather just a statement of what has happened in the past. Every time a new smartphone comes out on Sprint (Pre, Hero, Moment, Evo, etc) the same question gets asked. As of yet, I haven't heard of anyone getting a non-Winmo smartphone (BB not included) activated... and I don't think Sprint is going to change with the Evo.

Not trying to be smart about it... that's just the way it is.

My TP2 is activated on a none ED plan. Also I have 2 tricks up my sleeve and if that fails Ill try to just get them to lower the cost of the ED plan. I dont plan on activating it via the website but rather Ill call to have it activated. Either way I wont have the phone till mid week ill keep you guys posted. Ill tell you what works if anything. If nothing works I still have one last out and if that dont work Ill just keep the TP2 because I am not upgradeding to a ED plan just to pay another $600 per year because I wanted this phone. Ill keep yall updated.
