if i return the evo before the 30 day time period ? its a pretty amazing device to say the least but its not for me for 1 reason . . im in need of a physical keyboard .. i had to give this thing a try & its just not working out as of now . . . hoping things change

Try swype before you return it. It works wonders!

What I found to be helpful is to use predictive texting and auto correction. I can type just as fast on the portrait screen as I can w/the physical keyboard on my tp2. Sometimes the auto correction spells a wrong word but for the most part it's flawless. Might try to turn those settings on.

1 thing is making you take it back? Seriously doesn't everything else that the phone offers outweight that one little thing...You do know it has tatile feedback right?

Stick with ShapeWriter... there is definitely a learning curve... but it does get much easier and faster!

Text input is a pretty big "1 thing"...especially when someone like me uses a "phone" primarily for texting/web/email.

OP--May need to give it a few days. I disliked the Hero for awhile but after I got used to the soft keyboard (Better Keyboard, btw) I've gotten over the lack of hard keys...

I know you're trying shapewriter...but I say try swype too...I've tried both, and I find swype much easier to work with. I can type VERY VERY fast with it.

I don't get it... I mean are yall writing novels on your phone or what lol... I mean for what I actually need to use the keys for I can write a whole paragraph in like a minute with shape writer.. i mean for example I just did this entire post in under a minute pretty easily lol

lol i do use the keyboard alot & it cant keep up with me & if it does it would trash my wording . cant hurt to give shapewrite another chance .. jus some things arent for everyone . . very used to entering text manually i suppose
