HTC EVO System Update!

Just got the message that a system update is available OTA now.....

I'm staring at the screen and would post a pic but sold my camera when I bought the Evo lol...
Any who it has he following options:

System Upgrade 1.32.651.6 (13.14 MB) - FOTA update

Download via mobile network or Wi-Fi or 4G []
Download via Wi-Fi only []

I dont want to lose root but I think I may do it. My phone has been acting a bit funky since it was rooted and I'm guessing this is either the file that is loaded on the Evo (with full featured Qik) and or the fix foer the SD card.

I really dont want to be locked out of rooting but I am too curious.... Here it goes! Maybe if that unrevoked site will re-root for me if necessary

Re: HTC EVO System Update!

Other message boards are saying is a software update only...

But honestly...
HTC is not known for shutting down the hacker community....

And, if it takes root away, someone else will figure out another root.

Re: HTC EVO System Update!

Sooo no huge noticable differences my Google Goggles was acting a little funky earlier it seems to be ok now.

It didnt seem to ruin my root access I dont know how to confirm this but I was able to boot into the recovery image and screen that allows you to flash roms still so I think it is good.

No updated qik so I still dont know how Google IO devices will get it

Re: HTC EVO System Update!

Perhaps this was the fix for the SD card issue?

Re: HTC EVO System Update!

Unrevoked is reporting that this breaks the current rooting method. So do so at your own preference install the OTA.

Re: HTC EVO System Update!

I think the SD card issue may be related to incorrect formatting as FAT, rather than FAT32. I reported on this elsewhere, and how I dealt with it. If so, a software update won't likely fix that.

Probably for killing Root, Sprint wouldn't want us being rooted, because of the 2.2 HotSpot from HTC

I'm still unsure about that. They made the public statement that they wouldn't stop anyone from using a 3rd party app that creates a hotspot, we'll just have to see if they honor what they've said (this time )
