Reading the article he says that Google and Sprint have both been proactive in addressing it so maybe they do know about it? If so he sure didnt make that very clear in the article.
That I don't know. Do you plan on rooting the phone at all?

I'm still confused, will rooting fix the problem or not?

Also,

What if we install the sd card fix and then root? Will that be ok?

Maybe at some point in the future. I unlocked and flashed custom roms on my tp2 so Ill probably root it but doubt I'll be flashing anything custom unless they get froyo working properly before HTC releases an official version.

If I do root soon it'll only be for wireless stealth tethering. The flashing on the TP2 was to fix what shouldve been a great phone. Hopefully it doesnt come to that with the evo.

If you really want to root soon Id say wait until the hackers put together their own sd card fix that dont relock the phone. If you do install the official fix and wait a bit though there'll be new roots available to bypass the lock that the official fix applies. And the cycle will continue

Rooting the phone supposedly fixes the issue because apparently the issue is within Sense UI or something else Sprint put on the phone.

Yes, it seems as if you root the phone it will stop this from happening. Pretty much once you root Sprint "doesnt have control over your phone any more". To the best of my knowledge there is a SD card fix that Devs had made. Sprint on the other hand teamed up with HTC and are releasing a Over The Air Update to fix. From the looks of IF YOU UPDATE YOU CAN NOT ROOT!!!!! Someone is going to have to see if its still possible though.

Ya XDA has Froyo running somewhat smoothly. MMS Camera and 4g dont work at the moment but are looking very promising in the very near future. Tehtering is still a no go but thats what we are expecting Sprint is making it hard on that one lol. With the help of google though I think its a little more possible than we think.

Not true. You have the option of deleting these. They are still trying to find the ones that we can delete for sure.

Re: MUST READ!! Hackers urge all EVO 4G owners to root device citing security flaws!

@everybody_who_answered_my_question

thanks for all the feedback thanks coming to you all right now... last question (sorry for being such a noob but i never had an android phone b4)

I should root as soon as I get the phone tomorrow then not install the sd card fix then install the sd card fixed released by hackers. This will ensure that I can keep root on my evo and fix the holes left open by htc and sprint and fix my sd card problem???

Do I have it correct? Also, what if at best buy the try to do the update automatically? should i tell them to pump their breaks and tell them i will do it later?

Hey its ok, we all started where you are! Yes that is true dont update. It wont be long until they come out with a fix im sure for the Sd card. You just take the box and let them look at the code under the battery and run lol. Tell them you want it activated and thats it. Tell them you will update later so you can make sure you get the error that pops up. Gotta feed them with BS to make them believe you . We are always here to help man
