Evo Root Realese Friday

Is rooting the Evo the same as unlocking a Windows Mobile phone?

By this I mean: When you unlock a WinMo, you don't have to flash another Rom. You can keep the stock if you want.

So if I were to root the Evo, would I HAVE to flash a Rom when I root? Or can I root the Evo and stick with the stock Rom?

I just like Sense too much! lol
But I also love to tether!

Rooting is only the process of rooting. Flashing is a different process. Your analogy is correct

Sigh I also flashed WinMo ROMs and am new to this whole "rooting" process. Sigh. Guess I need to check out some tuts..

If its anywhere as easy as the HTC hero, then it will be a walk in the park. Did this for my sister and its just a matter of DLing a program and going from there. Directions always read a lot harder than actually doing it, IMO.

Ah so it's no biggie, cool. I was gunna go all crazy looking for tuts on ROM flashing, as the EVO will be my first droid, but you have reassured me. TY

Ya Like I said if it's anything like the Hero? we will all be ok. It was my first time messing with a Android phone and I passed lol. Im still stuck on the TP, well that is of course until 41 hours from having "her"
