Its not about being smaller with the new micro-usb vs the mini-usb, its about how many times it lasts plugging it in and out. Micro lasts thousands of "plugs" more.

The newer Micro-USB receptacles are designed to allow up to 10,000 cycles of insertion and removal between the receptacle and plug, compared to 1500 for the standard USB and 5000 for the Mini-USB receptacle. This change was made so that the connector on the (inexpensive) cable would bear the most wear instead of the micro-USB device.

Thanks, I missed that post. In that case, I guess we might as get it over with. At least the current setup seperates the cord from the transformer or cig lighter adaptor, so things are better and cheap to rectify. Thanks again for the info

Yep not a problem. I didn't know what it was all about until I decided to get the evo and got curious..cuz like you i have a ton of miniusb devices... oh well..this is progress..right?

Normally, I'd agree w/ you. But in this case, I'm guessing you haven't purchased from monoprice before.
While their cables and adapters seem too inexpensive to be worth anything, I've never had an issue w/ them. I use to buy the cheap charges and cables from ebay China, but after continually having to replace them I looked elsewhere. That's when I discovered monoprice.

Plus the fact that they are down the street from me and I can pick up everything on will call, doesn't hurt.

Thanks for posting that. I read about why the micro was better than the mini when they announced the new standard a long time ago, but forgot about it. I did know it was supposed to last longer too.

Thanks for posting that. I read about why the micro was better than the mini when they announced the new standard a long time ago, but forgot about it. I did know it was supposed to last longer too.

I can voice monoprice rocks! 2 years ago I got a pair of hdmi cables from them 4.95 a piece no problems to this day.
