Yeah, but people that think megapixels are the ball game don't realize the lens is FAR more important. I have an early Kodak digital in the closet, from the late 90's. It cost over $1000 back then, and only has 1 megapixel. But it takes fabulous photos, because it has a large lens, and of good quality. At some point, I think more megapixels just make the crappy lens more apparent lol.
People often only take one factor into consideration, when really it is an equation with 2 or more factors. Those other factors often carry more weight than the one everyone tends to get stuck on. That's why a 50 horsepower tractor can drag a 500 horsepower car all over the place in a tug-of-war. The other factors include torque, weight, traction, and gearing. In the case of the cameras, other factors include lens size and quality, and the CMOS sensor size and quality, and how naturally it fits the hand for steadiness sake. |
