"Google I/O event" phone probably.. evo's given out at the event and then sold by attendees on ebay/craigslist

There are about 5000 of them out there, apparently. The man I got it from was a caterer for an after-party for the Google I/O event, at Toshiba, and someone there gave it to him. I ended up paying exactly $400. It was going to be $420, but I watched several unboxing videos on YouTube on the way up, and knew there was supposed to be an 8GB card, and a 2GB card. When I noticed that (we were in the lobby of his apt. bldg. is San Francisco), he had this sheepish look on his face, and so I said that perhaps he could run back up to his apt. and look for it. He did, then came back down without it and took the $20 off.

I worried about that, but the guy had me over to his place, I have his real email, his full name, etc. This guy was on the up-and-up. While he was young, he wasn't one of those little rap guys

sorry, i'm not going to pay $400 today for a phone i will get for $200 june 4.

I wouldn't either. Unfortunately, I'm not eligible for an upgrade credit of any amount, nor even the rebate. By the way, you won't get out of the store for $200. Maybe $350, since you will pay tax on the full $449, and the rebate has to be mailed in, unless you get it at Best Buy. Still, close to $250 will be the tally. And a new contract. For me, I get to try this thing for 3 weeks or so before deciding if I want it. Yes, I know you can opt out when buying from Sprint too, but what a hassle getting it all unwound. I'll be able to acid test this thing, and ALL features are turned on too, including the hotspot, etc. And I have time to find the best plan I can set up. Who knows, maybe someone will figure out how to swap the ESN onto a SERO account after cancelling the Sprint/Google IO line. Sure, no 4G, but that's a non-issue to me. Stability in the device is the real issue for me.

This thing boots up completely in a minute. My TP2 has a long grind to be fully functional. Sense doesn't start well at all, takes forever. And the mid-day reboots are common enough for that to be a real business issue. So the Evo may be the solution. I can sell the TP2 for almost that much, since it's unlocked and they go for a lot more on eBay. I still have the Mogul as a temp backup
