I tried both that the OP suggested and they work well... As Bundo mentioned the FlashApp has a feature that throws a really brite flash for a split second... It kinda concerns me though as it is way to brite and I would be worried about damaging the LEDs over time...

I also stumbled across another app, LED Desire Light, which works on the Evo and out of the 3 is my choice for the best working flash app. This one has 4 brightness settings and also converts text to morse code. The Widget is a bit weak as it just turns on the LEDs at the lowest setting but regardless, a great app...

Give it a try...

i prefer LED Desire Light App, it let you choose the brightness and it give morse code, not that i use morse code but is good to have.

Re: LED Flashlights working on EVO - no root

Yep +1 for led desire light. And if you want the widget to turn the light on a brighter setting, you just have to open the actual program, select the higher setting, then close it with the brighter setting selected and it works when you hit the widget just thought is share that.

And another cool trick, to video record at night with the light on, just turn the leds on with the widget hit the home button, then open the camera and switch to video I couldn't figure out if you could do it with the stock camera app so I figured out this workaround : ) hit thanks if I helped!

Naked hope Nuerom.com made a nice application for the EVO. I found the low beam and high beam options, and you never knowwhen you have to switch Morse code SOS
