you got that error because you're running a bootleg andriod. google earth has certain specifications that need to be met besides just being on 2.1. Desire and evo can view google earth no problem.

Re: Pertinent info and Recommended Apps list

When I'm travelling, I like using Yelp, to find things to do around me. I sometimes use it for local things, too.
I like reading some comic strips, so the Daily Strip app is great.
Barcode Scanner is wonderful for downloading apps off the internet (just take a pic of the barcode), or scan a barcode of a product at a store. You can even link it to Google Shopper, to get more info on the product you scanned.
UrbanSpoon can be useful
Shazam is fun
Ebay/Amazon apps can be useful, as well
Fandango, for ordering movie tickets

Oh, I almost forgot.

The Volume/Mode Scheduler by Webcipe

Great app. $2.99 in the market, I believe.

Some software compatible with Word and Excel is a MUST, or this phone is a no-go for me. Not just a viewer, it must be able to edit and create the files too. Does anyone know if there is a solution?

Docs2Go http://www.dataviz.com/products/documentstogo/index.html does what you are asking for.
