Official HTC EVO Review Thread

Call Bluff is there I think. Tcpmp does not exist, no bt audio to route media audio to the bt headset. No TV apps period outside of Sprint tv. WinMo has about 250 channels. Mobi Tv, spb tv, the channer, My Player, and Sprint TV.

There is a Speed increase between the 2 phones, but not enough to floor me or anything. I will do a you tube on sprint tv and clock which one opens up faster. Youtube ripper on Android is terrible becuase it does not work. I like tlk radio, but there no way to listen to it on Android. Browser barely supports flash native or Skyfire. Winmo has Spb radio and I can listen to hundreds of tlk radio stations.

Instead of splitting audio and routing phone call audio to the Bt headset and Media volume to the speaker while on call Android forces them both through the BT headset, but once call ends media volume comes back out the speaker. Stupid.

Android does have its perks, but I am giving up a lot of stuff. I wish sprint had the HD2, and I would leave Android to grow up. Evo will end up being my back up or sold. This is my opinion. Everyone has there own expectations of the phone others may expect different things. I am not a fan boy so I wont just accept a honey dipped half way attempt at calling this the best phone ever.

I would look past a lot of things if I could hear my audio through my headset. I would also like to see some more tv and videos on this big screen. Bottom line the TP2 and the Evo are latteral movements. For me it is like going from making 54,000 to 60,000 dollars a year, but the 60,000 dollars comes with a 6,500 dollar mandatory tax. Point is I feel like I am getting less and paying more. I get a lot of eyecandy from the evo though.

Can I not talk about the Evo? Or are you a fan boy and mad becasue I did not bow down to the EVO. It is good, but the phone I had was good. I expected phenomenal or whatever else sprint said. Not just another GOOD phone. A lot of apps don't freaking work.

Yo, I have not had the EVO or even sampled it, just what I have read about online. I was carrying the HTC Titan for a few months and I upgraded to the Hero last December (2009). In all honesty up until yesterday I wish I had waited for the EVO because my hero was so laggy. I love Android and the way it works, there are some awesome apps.
Maybe it is a sprint thing but I had to do some tweaks to get my phone running smoothly but now that I have it is awesome and I am definitely upgrading to the EVO if only for the bigger screen and the higher resolution, the faster processor and more memory, or only for the He*l of it. GO EVO!

Evo Performance vs the TP2 using Sprint TV. Fan boys do not watch. Here is the demonstration of your overwhelming speed or power or what not. This phone would be great if the TP2 never existed. I aint paying extra money for this type of "Rich data experience" when my experience is richer now.

Have you tried to have sprint combine your two plans into a family data plan? They did for my wife and I, and now we have the 1500 everything data, and w/ free mobile to mobile, I've never come close to going over.

What interface is that guy using on the TP2? Doesnt look like anything Ive ever seen and definitely not stock. Also, hes got live wallpaper running on android and who knows what else. EVO can handle multitasking much better than the TP2 so there may be other things running in the background of the evo and none on the tp2. Dont take that at face value

I feel you bro. This is why though I am getting the EVO next week I am not selling my TP2. You make a pretty compelling yet detailed case for why Android is not significantly better than Windows as many would have you believe. Better, perhaps in many areas, but certainly lacking and disadvantageous in others- many of them practical.

you have not wrote the truth. one you haven't wrote what you need tcmp for, except for the one odd format you were talking about earlier, so if you keep bringing that up its still only one point. Your audio bluetooth thing is a lie. the bluetooth is seperated with android, now if the evo isn't working like that then thats a different story but on the nexus it routes seperately. I will use my bluetooth headset and the music will continue to stream through car stereo bluetooth while im on a call, don't lie to these people. I don't know about spb music specifically but there our many radio station options not to mention xm radio (who actually uses spb music???) Also i'm not going to mention i have full adobe flash on my nexus and soon on the evo, and winmo only had skyfire, man you're crazy. I feel you right out of the box, evo running 2.1 and unrooted you can't wifi tether but when everything operates 10x better and faster i can't compare the 2 because just because they dont play YOUR specific media channels. tell spb to step their game up and creat an android app. I am a little disappointed that the bluetooth audio won't route the same but aosp builds of android will fix that. thats why stock roms suck, but don't blame android.

I don't think the Evo is for everybody, and certainly not for you OP. I don't think you spent enough time with the device to get to know what Android can really do.

It seems to me that your biggest gripe is that you can't get certain apps on Android. That is not the phone's fault...its the OS.

Furthermore, you never mentioned, so I'm assuming you never tried, all the other capabilities of the phone. How about the multi-tasking? Windows Mobile can't keep up. Simple as that. My TP2 will lag considerably when I run too many things. And how is that keyboard lag treating you on WinMo? Doubt you will notice it on the Evo. Apps, internet, etc open up so much faster compared to the TP2. I love my TP2, but the Evo is like a God send. I'm sure many of us have had problems with that phone either being too slow or because of WinMo.

Change is not always bad, you have to try to figure out what the phone and OS can actually do. This is not WinMo, and I would cry if it was. WinMo 6.5 is dead.

Like I said before, if you can't justify paying $40 more per month to switch plans to use this phone, then don't. Its your money. But to say the phone is not great due to some of the OS limitations is not a very good review.

In actuality, WinMo has more limitations than Android.

dude just saqve yourself the headache and sell your evo. its obviously not for you, im not saying its a bad thing but when majority of the attention you pay to your phone is griping about it well it may be time for a change. like stated above the evo/android aint for everyone i think you fall into that camp
