anyone else have problem with RadioShack?

I went to radio shack today to pre order the HTC Evo , and the rep told me that i could not buy unless i was getting a new line or upgrade. I told him i wanted to buy the phone straight out, and he said his boss told him that they could not do it that way because they would loose money that way. Wow, has this happened to anyone else? i mean $500 would be losing money. i guess they just want to make money off 2 yr agreements .. i will call the next store. Best Buy 1st orders have been out and you have to get the next shipment on June 9th. If all Radio Shacks are doing this, i maybe camping at sprint store 7am
