My Sprint rep at Radioshack has had one for the last month and she finally brought it in the other day. Awesome phone. But I would NEVER ... EVER pay $10 a month for a service that doesn't exist in my area. That's great that Sprint FINALLY has dropped a proper smartphone in proper fashion (it only took 10 f*cking years) ... but then they pull this and then say that "don't worry it's coming soon"

I need more than ONE phone release to prove that you do things on time, when you say you're going to.

The phone's great, but not worth what you have to go through to get it.

$200 for the phone (I got my HD2 for $80 and it came with a ton of accessories and a 16gb SD card and the phone was LOADED with hudnreds of dollars in software)

an extra $240 you have to pay on your contract for a service you most likely will not be using for at least 1/4 of the way through your contract IF YOU'RE VERY LUCKY. I live in Boston, and our slated 4g up date is Sept. I'll believe that when I see it because T-Mobile is also saying that THEIR 4g network will be up in Boston by December. Somehow I doubt Sprint will launch 4g here by the end of the summer. Most people who don't live in a major metropolitan area, probably won't see 4g for a year if not longer. So that's $120 you're letting sprint take from your wallet.

If you want tethering it's $30 over two years. That's $720 you pay on your contract.

Extra Contact fees for a fully loaded evo 4g: $960

Extra contract fees for a fully loaded HD2: 0$

Things that the EVO has that the HD2 doesnt:

The 8mp Camera
Front facing camera
Kickstand (awe man I really wanted one of those..........)
4g

An 8mp digital camera (honestly, 8 is great, but theres a reason the Sony Phone with a 12mp camera costs $1200...it's because it's a REAL CAMERA, the evo has a pathetic lens, you will NOT notice a difference between the HD2's camera and the Evo's, if you don't believe me look at the HD2 section and go to the photos thread

...an extra in my opinion TOTALLY UNNECESSARY front facing camera (who are you going to video chat with? All of your friends with EVO 4gs...it's great that the sprint has this feature but really, you debut it on your most expensive phone ever so nobody can use it?)

...and a whopping KICK stand

4g is the only benefit. And I'm not paying almost a grand for it on my contract. I'd rather wait a year or two until the fees come down and save the money.
The $10 is not just for the 4G coverage, it's also the phone and the stuff you can do with it. I don't see any other phone that can offer what this phone has...plus if worst comes to worst...you can probably talk the CS rep down on that $10 fee...to like $5...

Comparing your HD2, it has half of what the Evo has in terms of specs...

HD2 - 5mp camera, only one, no kickstand, WM 6.5 with Sense, No mobile hotspot and no HDMI out.

Evo - 8mp 720 rear camera, 1.3 front, kickstand, Android 2.1.1 with sense, Mobile Hotspot with up to 8 devices, HDMI out.

Not everyone is going to use the $30 Mobile Hotspot, I won't be...So Im not paying that extra $700 a contract for that, the $10 I will be getting rid of TEP on one of my phone since the person can't seem to pay me for it...and Im early terming that phone anyway....$20+7-10=$17 so there I will be saving money towards the $10 fee...if anything my bill over time will be lower than what I would pay with that line, TEP and the $10 fee.

Also, Windows Mobile is a dying breed, support is lack luster, Apps are non exsistant anymore and if they are around they look like a 10 year old made them. I have the TP2 and can't wait to get out of WM...I feel left out...but soon enough I will be a Evo owner and enjoying 4G in my area (Seattle) and the Android Apps as well..

On the video he said June 2nd, actually it's June 4th, and he went right over the option for "front camera"...but I think he was just excited to have a Evo and or was looking through the lense and didn't see it.

If it's any concelation, my 1 year isn't till August 1st, so by then some bugs and revisions we be done to the phone "I hope"....My opinion, never buy the first batch of phones....wait till its been tweak a bit and had some fixes done before getting it.

Re: phone dog unboxing

Oh, the only thing the HD2 has over the Evo is:

-16GB Memory card

I just looked up the specs for both...ram and rom wise the Evo 4G has more...

8GB is enough memory for pretty much anything...woopie do if it has 8 more GB, go buy another card...or offload the crap and put new stuff on there..

That can't be anymore true...Good luck speaking another language and being treated like a idiot over the phone....I guess you get what you pay for when it comes to T-Mobile service..

Funny, over the past few months I've actually noticed Sprints CS has more english speaking people than forign people...and they seem to actually care now somewhat.

Some people may differ, but I have noticed a difference...

Actually, I'll be saving $20 a month, cause my only form of getting internet on the road ( I'm a trucker ) is the $60 a month air card. Even after I cancel it & pay the ETF, I'm still saving $.

Re: phone dog unboxing

Watching that video was absolute torture! Time goes by too fast as it is, but I wouldn't mind if June 4th would hurry up and get here.

On another note, I think we should ignore post like those from JQuill. He's obviously just trying to start something and its really unnecessary.

JQuill: What were you thinking when you posted that?? Did you honestly think you were not going to get owned?

Have fun with your HD2 bud, while we have fun with our Evos. Simple as that.
