Anyway, the mobile phone rep at BB informed me, that since I was the first customer to order the phone, I'd be guaranteed to get on on June 4th. Despite what I've heard from others who've ordered the phone, I was not allowed to fully purchase the phone. I had to pay $50 and then BB gave me a $50 gift card to put towards the phone when I picked it up. I also didn't have to select any type of plan or service, yet.

Does anyone know if Sprint's 30-day trial applies to this phone? It would be great to be able to try the phone out and return it within 30-days if i'm not totally satisfied.

thats how mine happend too, 50 down, 50 credit to go towards purchase....

yes the 30 day trial is there too

i was the 3rd of the day she said, 100% guaranteed to get it on the 4th...i got there at 330 PM EST

you do realize when the tp2 came out snapdragon processors were already around not to mention capacitive screens like with the hero. the reason the tp2 is so outdated isn't because of its processing power (though this is one biggie) but the 6.5 operating system was outdated as well when the tp2 came out, its just that android was underpowered so the jump wouldn't have been all that great. The hero came out last year and it did fine and isn't crap, the tp2 is crap because the hardware and software are old.

wifi is built in and usable as a feature of the phone....

dont see why everyone is so confused here.... it is 29.99 to activate the 4G mobile hotspot ability...

so... Wi-Fi IN is free... like connecting to your home/school/work network

and.... Wi-Fi OUT is 29.99 ... to connect your PC/laptop/DS/etc to your PHONE'S cell signal as its own wi-fi connection (ie, tethering)

but like many have said, just root the phone when its available...who needs to connect 8 laptops?

Re: official evo 199 at sprint june 4 realese date!!!

Thanks for the clarification. Maybe you can suggest something about this question. My wife and I each are on our own SERO accounts (the $49 ones). She is out of contract, and still using her Mogul. She has an upgrade credit. I don't, since I used mine up last Sept for the TP2. I would like to somehow use her credit to get the EVO (once I'm sure it does what I want - does anyone know if it can record phone calls like the TP2?). If I decide to make the jump after it's been out a few days and my questions about business functionality are answered, how could I use her credit? She is happy with the Mogul, or could use the TP2 if she wanted.

im not 100% , but i would assume she would use her credit to buy the phone... and resign a new contract... then you can take that phone, port your number from the tp2 over to it.... then once that is complete ... port her number to the tp2, or keep her number on the mogul

all you have to do is upgrade her phone line, then after you leave call sprint and ask them to activate her old phone on here account. after that activate the evo on your account. then if you want, activate the tp2 on her account.

Not according to Sprint's documentation....

The exact text says:

"Sprint Mobile Hotspot add-on required to access Wi-Fi on device."

Has Sprint even hinted anywhere that this might be an error?
