4G and torrents

Well I have to say I have been lurking on these forums for the last week or so soaking up the info about the Evo. There is a lot of good info here and it has served well to make me even more excited about this phone.

Now with all that out of the way I just had a thought as I was making myself dinner, with 4g on this phone what do you guys thing about the possibility of getting a torrent program to run on it? I believe I read that it would either come with of be able to use up to an 8gig MicroSD card and 8gigs is more than enough room for a couple movies and a lot of songs, and with the 4g I was thinking it would be pretty cool to download them straight to the phone. love to hear what you think.

Re: 4G and torrents

Better have a pretty good anti-viral program....a good percentage of files I've downloaded via torrents have had viruses.

Re: 4G and torrents

Even if there were a virus on the torrent it won't effect a cellphone as it is a different platform unless the virus is designed for the cellphone platform.

As for torrent protocol it is not that complicated. Optimizing it is a different story though.

Re: 4G and torrents

Since there are many legitimate reasons for using torrents, and there are some good torrent apps for Android (like here), I do not see a reason that this thread cannot continue. However, please remember that warez or the distribution of copyright protected software, music, movies, etc is definitely one our our zero tolerance rules, and I would hate to see anyone take this thread the wrong direction.

Now, carry on...

Re: 4G and torrents

I am sure that viruses you find in torrents do not apply to cell phones. I am guessing it COULD eat up your phone if it was written for Android specifically and phone is rooted, but chance of that happening is very low.

Even an unrooted phone can be susceptible to a virus if it is written for the platform.
