Re: Evo a World Phone?
well thats not exactly true because wimax is world wide... it would be data only but it would be possible to use a voip over that
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010/...owth-explodes/ wimax is all over the world. so depending on where you go u may have coverage

Re: Evo a World Phone?
sadly the Evo most likely won't be a world phone, it would of topped the cake if it were capable though... gotta love the TP2 for being a world phone, but the TP2 has it because it's more of a business oriented phone.
sure, maybe it's possible when calls go over wimax, but that possibility is still years away and a lot of places won't be getting wimax for a long time if it's not a big city. personally i think all the new high end phones from sprint should have a GSM/WCDMA radio.

Re: Evo a World Phone?
The chipset used in the phone has support for all bands but unless sprint put a sim card slot in the phone and the necessary hardware for the radio to work it will be CDMA only.
It uses the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ QSD8650 (1GHz) processor... Special Features: Embedded 600MHz DSP (GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS/WCDMA, HSDPA, HSUPA, MBMS, CDMA2000 1xRTT, CDMA2000 1xEV-DO, CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. 1, CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. B, baseband), Embedded Seventh-generation gpsOne GPS module, gpsOneXTRA Assistance source >> http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=cpu&id=...dragon_qsd8650 |
