ok, well I did a bit of following up on the Best Buy pre-ordering rumor. It seems that it is a no go.

The manager I have talked to said that they can not do pre-orders until Sprint officially sets a date for the phone. But as soon as that happens, the pre-orders will happen. She also said that they plan on selling them the "first week of June." (Which all but cements the June 6th release rumor).

So, I am now hoping that Sprint confirms a release date this evening at their conference/event.

I just got a call from my local Sprint rep who knows that I am a mod here and anxiously waiting for the EVO to be released like a hooker waits for her STD test results...

He said that corporate told him today that it would be in stores on the 6/13, though he is not sure if it will be available from telesales earlier. He also said they told him that it was going to to cost $399.00 with a $100 MIR, which I immediately questioned, and he said that was what he was told.

Take it with a grain of salt...

I think I would pass on it if it was that much. As much as I love this phone, $399 is pushing it with a MIR.

Let's hold off on this until tonight, if some info is given by Sprint at their event. Radio Shack leaks put this phone at $200, this puts the price at $300, after MIR, from Sprint. No sense in getting worked up until Sprint says something official.

I agree 100% about the cost... I just posted it because it is what I was told. My old rep who (accurately) scooped me on the release dates (to the day) and cost (right to the penny) for the Diamond and the Touch Pro 2 is gone and this is a new guy. He might be telling me what he was told and he might be trying to guess to look cool... I'm not real sure. Again, I just posted what I heard.

That might not be far off. That price could be without contract. They'll probably take $150-200 off for a contract plus the $100 mail in. That would put the phone between $100-150 after rebates. I could live with that.

I was about to say the same thing. I have an upgrade credit on hold for $150. plus the rebate.. this phone for $150 is a good deal in my book.
