I receive txts during calls all the time. My TP2 is not 4G. I never did understand how that worked but don't really care. My EVO will be waiting for me at BBY when they call for me to come pick her up.

Text messages are not data. They are sent over 1x like voice.

Text and voice are on 1X. That's why you can get a text while on a call...

Tool I would assume if you are on a 4G connection that would be the case yes.
