Re: Tutorials on making themes / boot screens?
I Am On A Mac And Can Only Do Half The Work On My Mac And Need The Other Half On A PC. (I Need A Z-Zip Alternative For Mac. =/ )
THIS IS NOT A FINAL VERSION OF MY GUIDE SO PLEASE DO NOT COPY & PASTE! I HAVE REVISIONS TO MAKE. GIVE ME UNTIL TOMORROW (08/05/10) TO HAVE A MORE BETTER DETAILED VERSION OF MY GUIDE OUT. FROM MY UNDERSTANDING, THERE IS A STEP LESS OR TWO FOR THEME CREATION ON A PC. MAC USERS, THIS SEEMS TO BE A GOOD GUIDE. ONLY THING WE NEED IS A 7-ZIP ALTERNATIVE.
Have These Ready:
PNG Editor (Photoshop Is My Choice)
7-Zip (Google Search, It's Free)
Auto-Signer (Search The Forum. Not Sure Where I Found Mine. Try XDA If Nothing Comes Up.)
Heres What I Do And It Should Work On A Pc Just As Simple.
1: Download Whatever Rom You Plan To Theme.
2: Extract The Rom From The .Zip Format. (Make Sure To Have A Second Copy For The Few Final Steps)
3. There Will Be Two Folders, Meta-Inf & System (Delete The Boot Image File)
3.2 Meta-Inf Can Be Left Alone. Go Inside Of System And Delete Everything Except "App, Customize, & Framework." Within Each Of Those Folders Extract Each .Apk.
4. Edit Your .PNG's (They Are In The RES Folder Inside Each Extracted App.)
5. Once Done Editing Open 7-Zip And Open The Second Copy Of The Rom Your Theming And Replace The PNG's Within The APK's That You Edited. After Click The Up Folder And OK The Update The The Archive.
*****(Remember To DELETE The BOOT.IMG)*****
6. Run Your Zip Through Auto Signer. Thats It. =]
