Theres been 5 Evos. Evo 4G, Evo Shift, Evo 3D, Evo Design, Evo LTE.

As far as the original question: I got mine on Friday. It's a nice improvement, the camera is great, especially continious shot. But honestly if you have a rooted 3D, you can get all the new software on the 3D. I had ICS and Sense 4.0 on my 3D. You'll notice minor improvements, but unless you're a spec whore(as I am) it may not be worth it

I use a HTC leather case, and I have a hard time hearing the phone ring & notifications....I miss alot....this is mostly when driving or at work, but my work is kinda loud, got lots a fan noise
