Some extenal battery chargers are NOT fully charging the battery!!

So, we think we can just buy an external battery charger and our charging problems are solved. Right? Wrong!! I recently noticed that when charging in one of my external chargers that the battery didnt seem to last as long as when it was charged in my dock with external battery charger. I can charge the battery in my external charger, and I guess once the light changes telling you that it is charged - thats it, it does not charge anymore as a safety feature (which is nice, if it was actually fully charged!!). I can leave it in there for hours after the fully charged light comes on, put the battery in my dock with external charger, and it immediately starts charging it(red light showing that it isnt charged, green light once it is charged).
Didnt know if you guys knew about this or not, but it sucks that you may think that your using an external charger and getting all that you can out of your battery when really you would get hours more battery life with a different charger. Hope this helps some of you out!!

Next test for me will be to charge the battery in the external charge(that isnt fully charging) and then put the battery in the phone, turn on the phone, then dock it and see if it starts charging or not. Would be crazy if it starts charging in the dock with the phone on, when it should be charging much more in an external. Not that it will matter for me as I am about to order another dock just like the one I have and toss the cheapo in the trash, or maybe just in a drawer just in case for an emergency...

Sorry if this info is already here on the forums, I did not see it anywhere. I always see people recommending an external charger, now we'll know which ones work and which ones dont.

If any of you have multiple external chargers then please test them out also and post your results, with pics, in this thread. This will help out a lot of members to know which ones to buy.

No doubt, my phone also says "100%" after I put the battery in the phone once the light is blue....and battery life is good. BUT, after it turns blue in this charger, I put the battery in my dock, light is red, after a while light turns green(fully charged), insert battery in phone, says 100% (same as with other charger), but now my battery last even longer than when charged in the other charger. Yours may be fine, I'm not saying that every one will see the same results. I just want every one to be aware that just because they are using an external charger doesnt mean they are getting the most that they can out of their battery...

^^Sounds like your phone is sleeping!! Compare your "Up Time" and "Awake Time". Awake time should be much less unless your using it non stop...

Ditch the eBay charger or you'll run the risk of damaging the battery and/or fire. Most of the eBay chargers are designed to charge 2-3 times and be thrown away. Open up one of those $2.50 eBay chargers and you'll see why.

I know most people on these forums use that same little ebay charger and have never damaged the battery our had fire.....The dock that I have and love also came from ebay.....

Do you have a link for the dock? I have the same ebay external charger and it worked fine for a while, now it will only charge for about 30 seconds so I need to buy a new one. Thanks in advance.

This is the one that I have. I think this was the seller to but I'm not sure becasue ebay only shows my purchases for the last 60 days...

On a side note. I recently found out that the small external charger will charge the battery fully but only if I leave it charging for almost 24 hours straight. I'm not gonna do that, so I'm just using the dock from here on out. Unless I have 2 dead batteries then I'll charge in the external untill the dock is done and then put in the dock to finish charging...
