(I really think they are the same headphones that Airtran gives you on their flights )

weird. mine had a staticy background noise to my music when i was listening through evo. i know it's my my earphones cuz i got ultimate ears and they sound great. maybe i'll test w another set of earphones and see how it goes.

I do! I have a legit hi-fi system and I basically live my life with it on.
Which means my phone is usually over in the corner connected with a short 5ft cable to my amps and receiver.
I'd be much easier to have the phone in the pocket and just the dongle on the hi-fi, no?

Do you think it would work well for this situation?

^^Will work great for that. That is how I am using mine too
