Re: Is replacing the stock SD card as easy as it seems?
If you have photos, vids, then you pull from the DCIM folder and make a new one.
You could also copy all of the stuff over. YES it is that easy. I've done it on numerous phones. Connect one SD card (the new one) to your PC. Connect your phone, mount it as a drive so you can see what is on the card. Drag and drop EVERYTHING over. Install new card. Be happy

Just about all cards are pre-formatted out of the box anyway but nothing is wrong with doing it again I suppose, anyway just copy all the folders over and you will be good to go.

I have found using a stylus to get it out works the best.

All of this is good to hear, I kept thinking just moving the files like that would some how mess something up.

Re: Is replacing the stock SD card as easy as it seems?
There is a this good software that is made for formatting SD cards, i've used it and it works very well. Make sure also that the card is seated properly. I didn't seat mine when I put in my new 32Gb card and the first time I restarted, it wouldnt' read it as even there. Software can be found here to format the card:

Re: Is replacing the stock SD card as easy as it seems?
Cool I already formatted it yesterday with the PC but will get that and format it that way then plug in the phone and move all that is on the phone's SD card to the 32gig one then turn replace the 8gig one with the 32gig one.
edit: that software is doing it the long way apparently I am now at 81% done formatting it. I guess doing it "right" takes longer in the case of formatting an SD card. Once it's done and I transfer the SD card I will update this. re-edit: done with no issues, thanks for all the info. Last edited by Ryum; 07-29-2010 at 03:12 PM. |
