Is the EVO 3D capable of using LTE Service?
I just read that Sprint is no longer expanding wimax and is going with LTE now instead. I have been waiting for a couple years to get 4g speeds where I live and bought a EVO 3D (not to mention payed $10 extra a month) in anticipation of eventually having 4g service where I live. I am now wondering if I will get screwed and have to wait another 2 years (while continuing to use slow 3g) to buy a LTE capable phone or if the EVO 3D is capable of LTE.

Short answer: No, the Evo 3D will not be able to use LTE when it rolls out.

it's a crap move on sprints part as everyone who wants to use the lte will have to buy new phones, even at retail price. i also do not see sprint getting lte off the ground until at least 2013. |
Re: Is the EVO 3D capable of using LTE Service?
I had thought I'd seen somewhere before the release date that it would need a firmware update to be LTE. Of course they also said it would do 1080p video. Luckily the 3G in my area has steadily gotten better, and with the EVDO upgrades they are rolling out they will supposedly have 3G speeds that rival WIMAX.

Re: Is the EVO 3D capable of using LTE Service?
I read in the sprint blog announcement for network vision and they said that they are not interested in Rev.B and have just decided to skip to wimax and LTE which is a shame because Rev.B is faster than Wi-Max while EDGE is faster than Rev.A in my city and a handful of other places. don't know what's going on with sprint and why it's taking soo long to fix as last year at this time the 3G speeds were fast enough for everything I could ever want to do. as for the question at hand the 3VO will not support LTE but it will support the 800mhz band when network vision is rolled out in its entirety.
