umm..depends...wimax is more spectrum efficient. But wimax takes more battery life to sustain upload until wimax2. Though if sprint deploys LTE in a lower band it will have better signals.

Define quality? in terms of technologically wimax and lte are around the same, but again if you have it run in a lower frequency you get advantages. Also keep in mind that the implementation of wimax used by sprint is old too.

In 2013 sprint plans to roll out LTE-Advanced which is technologically on par with wimax 2.

I wonder how all of this compares to T-mobile's deployment of Dual-Cell HSPA+ and rumored deployment of multi-carrier HSPA+

HSPA+ like all 3g standards are not very spectrum efficient. But as t-mobile has less users and data caps(in form of throttling after 5gb) it is less likely for it to be abused unless T-mobile suddenly gets a lot of users.

Otherwise speed on t-mobile is comparable.

And LTE-Advance and Wimax 2 as you can guess is beyond the limitations of HSPA+

@gTen they're calling it 4G. There's also a 10GB option I saw it when I went in to speed test the HD7 and miraculously got an insane 21m down. That plan sounds nice but I won't get it unless I can come down on the minutes to make it cheaper.

They can call it whatever they want, HSPA+ is 3.5g... realistically speaking the official definition of 4g is 100mbps which even LTE and wimax can't reach(wimax 2 and lte-advanced can)

But when I say 4g personally I mean generation tech, aka LTE and Wimax are newer standards from the ground up. HSPA+ is like a rough hack at higher speeds. Don't get me wrong its very good but again it is not as spectrum efficient as LTE and wimax. That means speeds will go down if too much users hop on. Also HSPA+ has higher latency in comparison.

See LTE and Wimax can easily school HSPA+, the problem is the carriers are too cheap to implement it efficiently hence why HSPA+ is doing so well.

Think HSPA+ as CDMA Rev B of GSM.


As for minutes, depending on how good your signal is you can always use VOIP lol (even though carriers usually dont like ppl using it)
