Problems... Dropped calls and no signal
 

Is anyone having problems with dropped calls or signal strength? It has to be my EVO 3D cause I never had problems with my EVO 4g. I pretty much have no signal in my house while my wife has full signal on her EVO 4g sitting right next to me. It is constantly switching back and forth to roaming. My battery is dead in about 3 hours with my phone just sitting with no use at all at home.

I can't pick up 4g in my office at work. If I walk outside I get a weak signal. My EVO 4g would connect with a good signal every day.

I am also dropping at least 50% of my calls while driving around. I do a lot of driving for work and can't remember the last time I dropped a call with my EVO 4g.

Is it just my phone or do all of the EVO 3D's have problems like this? It looks like I am going to be sending mine back and sticking with my EVO 4g unless there is a solution to this...

I live in the Denver metro area if anyone was wondering or thinking I was out in the middle of no where.

I'm having the same problem also and consider sending it back. Although I'm sure an update will come out soon for this issue. All you can do is tell HTC. Infact I'm doing it now.

I am having the same problems. This signal strength sucks. I returned my first 3D and exchanged it thinking it was just THAT unit, but the new one is the same. I did notice on the 2nd one, it had better strength before I did the update. After the update it got worse. Spots where I usually would run 6-9meg download speeds on 4g are 50k. Something better get fixed quick.

Yeah, my 3d drops calls more than my Evo did. Not sure it is enough to make me return it though as the areas where it has dropped calls is bad areas. I am going to hold out for an update. Like too much about this phone to give up right now.

Email HTC or Sprint about this problem. I did. This way this problem gets documented and hopefully a fix will on it's way!!

I am having the same... I have usually full bars at work.... But I am dropping calls and my phone keeps telling me that I am roaming!!

Hi guys, I noticed that both of my EVO 3 D’s have the same network connectivity issue.

This sucks. I get a bunch of voice mails after sitting at home for a while and going out to where I get a signal. My phone never rings or anything when I'm home. I'm probably going to tough it out for another week, but if this isn't fixed I have to send it back. Its the only phone I have and for it to not work when I'm home and constantly dropping calls is unacceptable.

Just compared my 3 D's, TP2 and TP1.

Areas in my house where my TP2 and TP1 has 3-4 bars consistent, the EVO's bounces around between 0-3 at the most.

I know it is hard 2 compare apples and oranges, but it defiantly should be more consistent.



Now this could be a deal breaker for me.

How do we know it is a software issue that could be fixed with an update? What if it is hardware and it will stay this way?

I hate 2 be a downer..

1) Weak speaker
2) bad connectivity
3) boot loader still locked

I might have 2 send it back.

Hi, I'm having the same exact issues. Signal strength is awful and speaker sound is weak. Can anyone help with this?

I'm having the same issue as well no bars, and I'm always roaming no. Plus internet is so slow. Called Sprint and told them I'm always roaming now. To shut me up they sent me Airave now I have full signal and 2.8mb download on 3g. No need to turn WiFi on at home.

Do you get the Airave for free? How long?
Could this be a temporary fix we should try to go with? :scratch::scratch::scratch:

I'm interested to know this as well. I'd be interested in giving that a try and see if HTC/Sprint fix the issues down the road. Unless we find out its a hardware problem...

Im having the same issues it roams back in fourth at my home and Im in a strong sprint coverage area this hasnt been an issue on any of my previous phones including the original evo. I have had people text me saying they have attempted to call me a couple of times but it never rang on my end. im usually always in a good sprint area so this is mildly annoying and hope a fix is coming soon.. emailed sprint and htc just so it could be documented and hopefully create some noise on their ends

Yep novelty has wore off and now I want my EVO 4G back, Dropped calls and little to NO service in areas that i use tto watch TV on my EVO. What the hell HTC!!!

I had messed around with a couple of settings on my evo in the epst menu before and it caused a couple of problems. One was in the evdo menu, I changed it to other settings besides automatic and either my data was hella slow or I couldnt receive sms/mms. On my 3d it was set cdma. Changed it to automatic and data is a little better but we are still having a tower issue in my area so I will wait for that to be corrected to see if data returns to normal or not. The other was in the Advanced menu. On the evo the ACCOLC is set to 9 but on the 3d it was set to 1,at least on mine it was. I read (somewhere over at su)that the higer the number the higher your phones priority to connect to the network/tower is. As for the msl,call sprint they will give it to you and you can change these settings in the data menu. I would soft reset your phone after making the changes cause thats the wm in me lol.

I tried it and it helps with the internet but not the dropped calls/degraded signal. Think its gonna be an internal antenna issue- but i've been wrong b4. Divorce 3 times, LMAO

Would it be OK if I post this as a poll question - e.g. are you having problems with dropped calls/signal on your EVO 3D that you didn't have on a previous Sprint phone?

I think this is a pretty significant concern

I having the exact problem and like everyone else this kills the battery, before i never had problems with TP2, now evo 3d is constantly roaming and show NO bars at time I can not even connect to 3d. if this doesn't get fixed in the next 27 days.. this bad boy is going back and I suggest everyone else does the same.

I am having the same problem as most of you. The problem is not severe enough where I can't make or receive calls but a few times my phone was in roaming when I should have had full bars EV. Also when it is not in roaming my data speeds are slower than even my Touch Pro 2 was. I have also had issues a few times getting it to connect to my airave. On the up side I was able to get strong roaming in an area where my Touch Pro 2 couldn't get anything. My guess is it is a software issue as my EVO worked fine the first day I had it. Then I accidentally did the automatic update and was having problems right away. I remember reading on XDA somewhere someone saying don't do the update.

I'm coming from a Touch Pro 2 and I'm seeing about the same signal strength between the 2 at home and at work.

My Evo3D has the same coverage as my 4G had. No problems so far here in Orlando.

I called sprint and they claimed that no one else had opened a case about this problem, which i find hard to believe

Well finally noticed calls going directly to voicemail while at home. Contacted customer service and they are shipping me an airave at no cost. I've always had poor signal quality at home but not to the point of missing several calls as I've had with the 3D.

Hi, dont you have to pay a monthly fee there at some point?

I'm getting the airave too for free. Sprint waived the monthly fee as well.

I have the same problem. I ordered a replacement phone and it looks like more of the same. HTC needs to fix this ASAP. Thinking I might go back to my EVO 4G.

I was told by both the chat rep and the sales rep that there would be no monthly service cost. I have the chat saved just in case they change their mind down the line.

I got the airave over a year ago for free due to the poor signal where I live. Sprint does charge you $5 each month but then they give you a $5 credit so yes it is free in the end.

For calls yes. For data, still having data outage in my area so nothing will help until that is fixed. Did go a half mile from my home and was getting 1.5mbs in the late afternoon. Makes me want to move lol. I am in a 3g only city.
