How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
Hello Geekers,
Me and the Wifey will be getting the Evo 3D tomorrow. I currently have the EVO so transferring from backup is no problem for me but My wife has a touch pro2 and I can't remember how to transfer from windows mobile to android. Does anyone have a specific method for doing this? Thanks, ALi |

Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
You should be able to use Google Sync. You don't have to connect it to a PC and it lets you sync your calendar too.

Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
I use Windows Live Mail on here instead of Outlook, so I never got the full synch integration to work. Because of this, I was relying on the Windows Live synch build into the TP2, thinking it would all end up in my desktop mail client -- this turned out to be false, as I found out after I had already activated my 3D. I managed to hook it up via-USB and upload everything to Soocial (www.soocial.com). Unfortunately, the Android version of this wouldn't download contacts from the server, so I had to export the contact file from the web interface and then import that into GMail.

Is there anyway to import over text message convos as well? (From TP2 to Evo 3D)

Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
Take it to Sprint, they can transfer your contacts. I personally rebuilt my contacts database from scratch when I swapped a year ago, as the .csv file didn't import as nicely as I was hoping. I have less than 1000 contacts, so it wasn't a huge ordeal.
As far as copying text, not anyway that I know. Sorry. |
Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
I'm in the same boat. I'm coming from a TP2 to the 3D.
If you have outlook on your PC at home, couldn't you use HTC Sync(or whatever the name is for the HTC syncing program) to sync your contacts and/or you calendar? I installed the HTC program yesterday, but won't have my 3D till tomorrow. |

Haha .. I am in the same boat as the OP.
This will be my first Android phone and I sure do have lots of questions. I wonder when I plug in my USB that W7 will get the correct drivers. Can Windows Mobile Center work on this? |

Plus when the Evo came out, I wasn't ready to give up my hardware keyboard or resistive touch screen (I have fat fingers and rely a lot on my fingernails for touching the screen). Back on topic: I wonder...is microsoft myphone availble on android...lol. If so I can backup everything (texts, contacts, cal, etc) from my TP2 using that then restore it to the E3D. |

As for the contacts, I'll check a few ways and see what happens. |
Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
E3D has a new way to tranfer contacts through bluetooth but i havent tried it out yet because i tether with my TP2.....really dont want to give up that feature just yet because its my only internet source .....but when you start the opening setup the first thing it ask if you want to transfer your contacts via bluetooth

Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
HTC Sync is pre-installed on your phone....so when u plug it in then it installs the drivers for you.....thats been the same since the Touch Pro 2

Sounds awesome. I was just reading the site, but did not see anything about SMS backup...which is a feature I am REALLY looking for. I just want to verify that it backs up texts/picture mail etc. |
Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D

ANY ADVICE on doing this for a HTC Touch PRO(first one.lol) ? Problem is That My Screen is SHATTERED so I Obviously cant see or Touch the screen to input the commands for bluetooth etc. And When I Plug in my phone to the Computer It Reads it as a Hard drive Only. It doesnt Automatically Sync. Is there A way On the Computer To make It Automatically Sync? I would Like to get my ALL My Contacts From My Phone, text messages would be a Plus too. THanks for any and All Input.

Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
the best way I know how to transfer contacts from one phone to another is thru google gmail and the other is to export all your contacts from your old phone to the SD card and then transfer that SD card to the new phone then import them back. Here is how:
1. go to people/ contact app on the old phone then: settings/Export/Export to SD card. 2. Remove the sd card from the old phone and install in new phone. 3. Go to people/contact app: Settings/Import/ Import from SD card 4. Done Or could bluetooth them one at a time from old to new. |
Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
There's also another solution I didn't see anyone mention. All you need to do is setup a Gmail account, then go to Activesync on you Windows Mobile 5-6.x, in the server address you use m.google.com for the user id: username@gmail.com pwd: your password and make sure ssl is checked, hit next then it'll ask what items you'd like to sync just make sure tasks us unchecked or you'll get an error code. then you'll have all your contacts syncd up. so when you go from WinMo to Android and sign into your account they'll never be lost. It also will always keep your contacts in WinMo whenever you sync to. If you have any other questions about syncing just pm me. I'll be happy to help in whatever way I can.

Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
actually the bluetooth method worked for me i took it into to my closest sprint store for them to activate it and x-fer all my numbers and possibly my Text messages and they managed to get it done thru Bluetooth by making the phone visible took less than a minute to do

Until recently I have always lagged behind on phone tech. But I think from here on out I will be good. As it stands right now I am getting two phones for LESS than the cost of one and depending on how things go with selling my TP2 and my wifes Samsung Moment, I could break even or even make a profit. When the next generation of phones come out, I might get lucky but I doubt it. The big help to me (and probably you as well) was the sprint renewel credits, and sprint moving upgrade eligibility. |

Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
Where did you find Google Sync? I only downloaded Google Calendar and it work on my desktop Outlook.
I read that HTC Sycn work too. |
Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
hey I am still using my TP2 but getting Evo3d this week, do you all think that this would work for live syncing? let me know: How to ActiveSync Hotmail Mail, Calendar and Contacts with Android | These are the Droids
|
Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
I create another gmail account just for my phone and I put my appointments and contact there and it sync on 3D instantly.
NO more toying with ActiveSycn and installing drivers and only 2 device can be sync with Outlook. Cloud stuff is sooo cool. Microsoft, its just too bad. |
Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
I Used funambol sync it's easy, I had HTC diamond (windows) I installed on it sync it then I installed it on my EVO 3d sync it and have all my contacts also u can view ur contacts on ur pc when u go to the funambol website

Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
The other day I had to exchange for another 3D. Walk into the Sprint store to get a new one. Log into my gmail account n bam, all my Contacts and Appointments are back on my new 3D.
Dont do any sync on your PC/Outlook or put anything on Yahoo or Hotmail. Just put everything on your Gmail and it sync to your phone in 2 sec. I have also put all my doc and xls on gmail too and use their app. Example of cloud at work. BTW, if you have a phone that use SIM, you dont need to do all of this. Just to bad that Sprint is not SIM. |
Re: How to Transfer Contacts from Touch Pro2 to Evo 3D
Just had to exchange my phone. Asked a different guy the same quesion. What he suggested is go into gmail on a PC, go to contacts, and delete the ones you don't want sync'd then sync again and wala! It should be fine. I haven't had a chance to mess with it but I don't doubt it will work. Just didn't realize that there was a separate "contacts" section in gmail.
