Ringtones and Alarms

Hi, I've just switched from TP2 to Inc. I'm new to Android interface, so am struggling with a couple things. Where are the ringtones and alarms stored on the phone? Is there a reccommended file manager to access them. with TP2 I was able to simply drop wav files into the windows/rings folder and the ringtone would be listed as a choice. Similarly, dropping a WMA file into the windows folder would get the audio file to list under alarms. Is there a similar process for Android or am I stuck using the procedure of selecting an mp3 from the musil library and setting it as ringtone?

Re: Ringtones and Alarms

Since I made the Android switch I've been using Ringdroid to trim my mp3 files. It gives the option to save as an alarm, notification, or ringtone.. Then it will show up in the stock selection lists.
Other than that, I'm not sure, because the sounds are in /system/media/audio, then there is alarms, notification, and ringtone folders. However the only way to get to that is to be rooted. And adding files there is probably more of a pain than just using the music library.

Just the info I was looking for. Thanks. Guess I'll just need some getting used to this new file system. Didn know u had to be rooted to access those files.

Re: Ringtones and Alarms

I'm taking the ringdroid program into consideration seeing how much I loved to make ring tones for my wm devices. Thanks for sharing!
