Re: Anyone had any problems with the Droid Eris?

Got a brand new droid eris from verizon. On the first day the messaging icon on the home screen started malfunctioning and sent me to camera. now it is sending me to missed calls list. I guess nothing's perfect.

Re: Anyone had any problems with the Droid Eris?

I've had my ERIS for a few days now. I like it alot. I've been doing quite a bit of reading on it, especially problems others are having. Out of the box, I haven't had any problems or issues so far. Battery seems to hold up good for me. I believe that most of the problems/issues others have is because they get the phone and immediately start installing apps. I haven't installed any apps, yet. I believe that you should use the phone out of the box for atleast a week or so to get a good feel for it. Also, this helps to diagnose any issues later after installing apps. Only drawback for me is Yahoo mail not porting, but hopefully that will get a fix in the future. Luckily I had a gmail account from awhile back.

Yeah man I was just kidding... But seriously, isn't that why we're here, to make our phones faster and more capable?

Installing apps does not make the phone faster or more stable. But just like the TP2, most people started complaining about stability and speed issues because they threw app after app to their phone.

Re: Anyone had any problems with the Droid Eris?

apps do make the phone more capable though. The SMS preview function is a must have for users leaving s2u2 behind. Also the absence of a missed call tone or indicator is a major pain as well. Ringo allows the use of MP3s as ringtones and event sounds. The Dolphin browser is faster than the stock browser. If you don't install an app you are seriously missing out...

I didn't say 'capable'. Missed call indicator is trackball, but I guess that is not good enough for some people. SMS preview sounds interesting enough, but personally if I receive a text chances are I will be replying so I would end up going to SMS messages anyway. Basically it boils down to "Each his own".
