Question Is there any way to improve the audio quality within video recordings?

Both my sister and bro-in-law have the Droid Eris. I have messed with their phones numerous times. I am however disappointed with the quality of the audio in the camera video recordings. Even in the HQ Mpeg4 mode, the audio still sounds all garbled. Now I KNOW after reading the data sheet on this phone that it is capable of an input sampling rate of 44khz. Why does it still record audio using the AMR codec? This phone has to be better than this. My Touch Pro 2 does it, why shouldn't the Eris? Is it a software issue? Are there any codecs that can be installed to improve the audio performance?

Appreciate the replies
