I remember on my vogue it took me forever and three days to figure out how to change the message tone.. I'm having the same issue with my Eris now, I see where to change the tone- but can't use custom ones.. help please? :l

Re: customization of message tones..

custom works for me.

I use Bruce(Tobi) soundboard for custom tones. lol

all you do is download the app soundboard you wanna use. pick the sound you want, and hold the sound. it will ask you to save for ringtone or tone.

then go to sound & display> notification sound and look for what you saved. it will be in there. its also in ringtones as well

There is a free app in the market called Ringdroid that makes this easy.

I've never used aring, so I don't know. One of the things I like about ringdroid is that when you save the tone you can set it to ringtone, or message tone, etc then it will show up in the messaging app as a choice for you to set it. I suspect it is possible aring will do something similar.

anytime you make a tone on aring it sends some info to ringdroid so I have a feeling its like limwire and frostwire, same program, same servers, different name and interface lol.

Re: customization of message tones..

I use Ringo Pro on my Hero and Moment and no matter where I drop my ringtones, Ringo Pro sees them. It also let's you setup custom SMS/MMS alerts and ringtones per contact. It's not free but worth the cost IMHO.
