Faster Active Sync Transfers

how come i cannot take advantage of the faster file transfers via active sync. the phone wont sync with my computer if the faster file transfer box is checked, but i am pretty sure it did before. any suggestions?
i am on 64-vista

actually, it's advanced network functionality. it does not seem to work for me anymore? i don't know why. i exchanged my diamond recently, as my last one lost vibrate and stylus magnet came off, but i don't see how that should be a factor. i think i might have disabled some hardware feature -- it wasn't finding the right drivers. could that have been it? it spretty annoying this way. i gota go into bootloader manually every time i flash, and the phone won't stay connected after it's charged. plus, there are some weird dialogues. any help?

it does not seem to be able to find the right rndis driver. if that is related at all.
